Does Islington Council collect your recycling when you leave it out?

Does Islington or Harringey Council collect your recycling when you leave it out on the pavement?

I left my recycling out in the see through recycling bags and Islington Council did not collect the recycling bags lots of times. The recycling bags were then left out on the street for a couple of weeks making the place look messy.I got fed up with this so now I don't recycle I just chuck my stuff in the bin like a couldn't care less chav pot mcdougal who is about as green as the Chinese government.

Is it true that the people who collect the see through recycling bags that you leave out on the pavements in the borough of Islington are just paid for say an 8 hour shift and can go home when they have finished so they rush as fast as possible so they can go home as quick as possible and if this means some people who leave out their recycling don't get it collected who cares they are getting paid.

Despite the fact that I left my recycling out the day before they are due to collect the recycling bags and I know that Islington Council regularly don't collect these recycling bags Islington Council continues to stuff throught the door loads of bumpf advertising how green they are, well they aren't green they are the opposite of green in my experience.

I'm not going to carrry very heavy sacks of bottles and the like down to the local recycling bin on the pavement that will do my back in.

Stroud Green Rd looks a mess regularly too they should clean more.

I'm not interested in any excuses from Islington council because I know how the system works which is you put all your stuff into the recyle bags leave it on the pavement at the right time and day then they don't bother to collect them and the sacks sit there on the pavement so litter louts drop their beer cans and burger boxes next to the recycling sacks which makes the street look even worse.

Islington Council needs to change its system of paying its people who collect the recycling sacks. Pay them bonuses on the basis of how many complaints they get so less genuine complaints more money for the workers. And dont let the recyclers go home before they done their shift so they are not incentivised to just rush as fast as possible and not collect the recycling.

If you complain they just might improve for a week or two then it goes back to not bothering to collect the sacks again no doubt

I'm not going to tell you where I live. Thanks to Islington council I now dont bother to recyce, yet I did recycling for years without complaint in another borough.

We will judge Islington Council by actions not words in their adverts

There is a man who walks and shouts around Stroud Green every day. He walks purposefully and passes our flat several times a day. We also see him on SGR but always just walking, never stationary. He shouts (I think it's swearing but can't always make out his words) when the street is quiet - the fewer people in the street, the louder he shouts. Does anyone know this man, where he is going, or why he shouts?

As all the posts on here recently have been of the most tedius nature, I just wandered if anyone has had anything exciting happen to them or wtnessed some awsomeness recently?

I was on the 19 from Angel Thursday last week, and the bus was attacked by Football fans
on Blackstock road.

They spat at the driver and kicked the Middle doors, and then the after being spat at the driver went apeshit and drove the bus
onto the pavement trying to run the crowd over, shouting FUCK YOU BLAADCLAAT!! it was tremendous. Then some coppers came over and it was all over.

It was reasonably hairy, but also slightly more exciting than recounting how many types of energy saving lightbulbs are available
in the world.

I love N4... I hate hippies...

I got a flier through the door for that new massage therapy clinic on Ferme Park Road so decided to try it out today.

I had a deep tissue massage and it was excellent. I feel like a new woman. everything that was tense/achey feels much looser. And the woman who owns the shop and does the massage is very friendly and kind.

And best of all, they've got a 2-for-1 introductory offer on at the moment - any two hour treatments for £45! Usually you'd only get abotu half an hour for that.

The treatment rooms are lovely, very clean and relaxing, and instead of towels she's got these snuggly soft fleece blankets.

it's right next to Londis, next to the hairdressers.

Check it out!

I found a leaflet on the floor by the station this evening, not sure of its integrity but it sounded very interesting. I shall transcribe:

Proposed New Theatre Public Consultation:

Saturday 13th February 2pm-6pm
and Monday 15th February 6pm-8pm

11 Clifton Terrace, Finsbury Park, N4

We plan to convert and extend the office building (previously occupied by Sense) into a new cultural flagship for Finsbury Park - with a 200 seat theatre, a studio theatre half that size, an interval bar and a foyer. It will also contain rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and a small office.

We aim to bring high quality theatrical entertainment to the area, while also providing young people in the area with the opportunity to develop their confidence and communication skills through participation in drama.

The site is at the heart of the Community Core within Islington Council's proposed Finsbury Park Area Action Plan. We aim to submit a planning application in March 2010.

We would like to show you our latest plans and answer any questions you would like to ask. If you are unable to attend either of these meetings please email jezbond[at]live.co.uk. We will then arrange an alternative time to discuss our plans with you.

To help us assess your views, we will ask you to fill in a short feedback form to tell our development team of your views.

Has anyone ever tried the bitter vegetable curry in Jai Krishna? If you don't know, Jai Krishna is the brilliant vegetarian curry restaurant on Stroud Green Road where two people can eat very well for under £20. I have been going there for over 20 years but only ordered the bitter vegetable curry for the first time recently. This dish turned out to be so bitter that one mouthful each was all that me and my girlfriend could take. It is made from bitter melon which is a fruit that can be purchased from a number of shops on SGR. Maybe we got a particularly bitter version but I wonder if anyone has ever managed to successfully finish this dish and I would like to issue a challenge to anyone who hasn't tried it to give it a go and see how far they get.

 Hello!

I went this weekend to a new restaurant in Highbury Park, Juniper Dining (www.juniperdining.co.uk), which was really lovely and quite different from the other restaurants about FP. Just wondered if anyone else had been there and had a good experience?

I think it only opened in November and I took my in-laws there as my father-in-law is terrified of anything "spicy" (haha) so doesn't like our normal haunts of Petek and so on. This was Modern British and we got a little amuse bouche of broccoli and stilton soup and everything we had was delicious.

Has anyone else got any reviews of this place? And what about Garufa (which is almost next door) - I've never been and would like to know if it lives up to its promise of genuine Argentinean fare....

I can understand that some people, especially in the winter, do not want to do this walk. So I have no problem with the people standing at the bus stop outside the hairdresser/chemist at the top of SGR.
However, what is up with the people who queue at the last stop on SGR opposite the post office? It’s a 2 minute walk to the station!
The elderly, disabled, pregnant, push chair/buggy bound people I have no problem with. But the able bound youngsters are just plain lazy. We should fine them and spend the money on re-fitting the number 4 bus to make the seats more comfortable for tall people.

Anyone noticed that yellow shop near the station that used to sell one pound fruit and veg bowls is no longer there? It seems to have become a florist. Shame, I liked their fruit and veg. I asked the florist what happened and he said he hadn't a clue and they had just diasappeared one day lock stock and shelves.

We seem to be getting an increasing amount of whispering going on. I'm not complaining, this is absolutely fine, but the whispers do tend to skew the threads for others. I'm wondering if its time we started operating a private messaging system. However, my early forays into shoehorning the whispering system into messaging wasn't great, it worked for the most part but I wasn't convinced of its security.

What to do.
