    He spoke of an "abandonment of any real strategic design in the Home Office for the management of sex offenders in favour of trying to find out what one particular tabloid newspaper wants and then complying with their wishes".

    Here's a list of what Sarah's Law claims to have achieved so far. The last request, controlled access for parents to information on paedophiles in the local area hasn't been granted yet.

    Maybe the Observer could pitch in to claim a bit of the righteous worthy limelight?
