Merchandise
  • The "shop" has been sitting there forlornly for a while now, but hasn't had any stock in it.

But if there's demand, we'll knock out some more. The things that are good are:
    - Tote bags
    - Mugs
    - T-shirts

All with an i heart n4 logo on.

So reply in this thread if you want something and if there's sufficient demand, we'll batch something up.

(If anyone has photos of their kit, please post them to show them off)
  • I kept meaning to buy a tote bag! Can I have one please? Also, can you get the mugs in those big US style? Loads of ours are broken so could replace them with SG ones!

  • Does anyone know of anywhere local that can print photos onto mugs? I need a birthday present and I need it pronto. Ta.
  • Snappy Snaps in Crouch End do photo printing on mugs.
  • Yup. I've just called them and I'm off over there as soon as I can pull my photos together. Thanks, anyway.
  • I would definitely buy a bag.

  • I would also get a bag. And a mug (for Ian) - he finds plastic carrier bags more convenient to use. And cheaper.
  • I just am not good with the simple connection between "going to the shop to get some stuff" and "taking a bag with me". I'm working on it.
  • This just doesn't have the same vibe, does it?

    phantum

  • @david - I don't know, could be part of the soft, emotional back-story needed for the summer blockbuster family audience.
  • That's 3 for bags and a couple of mugs.
I think we need to get to at least 10 of each before running some up.
  • Bag, mug.
  • (Please)
  • a tote bag please

  • ...and a bag for me please!

  • 6 bags now, 4 more before we DO IT
  • How much are the bags?

  • Hello!

    I would love a mug...
  • I'll have a bag and mug!
Think I just invented new cockney slang for hug!
  • Can you put me down for another mug as well.

    Ta
  • How much are the bags?

  • We don't know yet tc.

  • How much are you willing to pay? We'll run it like a dutch auction.

  • I would probably like 2 bags but if they're £20 a pop then I probably wouldn't.

  • Didn't the shop have badges, too? I'd like a badge.
  • i'll have a bag please.

  • @ tosscat - you can get bags for less than twenty quid from the blokes who hang around outside Finsbury Park station..

  • thanks for that puu

  • I'll have a couple of mugs if the price is right.

Dunno about bags. I might get recognised on the street as a sg.org nerd

    I like that: sgorgnerd.
  • We're at more or less 10 each for the bags and mugs. We'll start the engines.

Though people are starting to get a bit price sensitive.

    And Poxy wants a badge.

Also, I'm a bit of a hippy about organic cotton. So they'll probably be that. It might make it more expensive, but hey, fewer polar bears will die and ting.

  • Polar bears get right on my chimes

  • Even Knut!?

  • What's the point in saving all these silly obsolete species?

  • I feel like that about children. Test tubes and release them as adults already. Huxley didn't take the idea far enough.

  • I could stretch to at least a couple of mugs, assuming price is reasonable.

  • "a couple"?

@Andy, perhaps we could work out some deals. a set of 4 mugs, and twin bags get a discount...

  • Mug please

  • Ball park - the bags, how much?

  • Buh. Initial investigations suggests less than a tenner but more than four pounds.
  • I'd love a bag and a mug please.

Oh, and does anyone want any tomato plants (seedlings)? I grew too many and can't bear to throw them away...
  • Great Andy

    Ghandi.

    2 for me then please

  • shurely "grandi", tosscat? with a nice glass of pilk...
  • I'd like a mug. Also worried that a bag would single me out as an sg.org-er. What happens when you see one other with bag on SGR? A knowing nod? Shake hands? Avoidance? Social minefield...

@emine: I put my spare tom seedlings in pots outside the front of my house with a sign saying 'free tom plants, need tlc'. They were all gone in 5 minutes. Someone took the sign also.

  • @Nick_M ah - the stroud green recycling system. I use it all the time. Yesterday I put two Ikea speaker stands out, they were gone by the time I was back from Tesco's. I might put some actual speakers out today - nice 1970's Leak speakers. Were a classic at the time if anyone wants them ...

I gave up on freecycle ages ago - middle class folk would email wanting it, not turn up when they said, then eventually deign to come and say "it's the wrong period/colour/ambiance" and so on.

  • What if we got Home or somewhere else to sell them too? Would that defuse the social N4 bag minefield?

  • That would be the hitherto unconsidered obvious solution. Also, it gives a greater chance of selling higher quantities.

Now a question... Does any of the merchandise (I hate that word, dunno why) contain any mention of sg.org? If you had independent means of supply would you consider putting on such a mark and what are the consequences of that to this site?
  • I'll buy an N4 mug. Selling them in local shops sounds like a great idea, although I hope you sell them online as well. Mr. Home's pricing strategy isn't very customer friendly. In fact I'm surprised he's still in business.
  • @poxy, i can't work out whether you think mention of the site on the stuff is a good thing or not.

David is off on holiday for two weeks, so if we can rack up a few more pre-orders, we'll get all this sorted when he comes back.
  • Yes DEFINITELY brand 'em sg org IMHO
  • Andy: I not absolutely sure myself. But, I definitely think it's something which should be considered.
  • Am I too late to request a couple of bags?
