Free haircuts for CSS/HTML
  • Was having my haircut by Paul at Chaps & Dames the other day, he asked what I did - I said I design websites for a living...

The talk came round to how much I'd charge for a simple website for C&D - he said he couldn't pay me much - but he could give me free haircuts for a year (£20 haircuts x 12 month = £240).

I'm seriously considering it - but I need someone to build it. I'm sure the Free haircuts offer would extend to whoever the developer is as well.

    So any takers?
  • £20 for a haircut? Daylight robbery.
  • @krs - even worse than the £20, a haircut every month?

  • @ShaunG - Exactly. Every six to eight weeks, I reckon. And then the real thing.
  • While I'm a terribly soft touch for web work to mates and family, my hairdresser and the like would have to pay reasonable cash. Independent web designers & developers shoot themselves in the foot every time they take on these type of arrangements.

  • @ optimo75 I hope you're recording the time spent discussing it here - clearly billable time. I think you're up to at least three haircuts already.

  • Going by your previous work it's going to money well spent :-)

  • haha I only got 12 metres of hessian for doing their site. Won't make that mistake again...
  • That site has reminded me of my favourite piece of animated parsley of all time

  • When it comes to haircuts - you get what you pay for - I've had £6-£10 haircuts (when I was skint) and always came out feeling like I was about to go into the military.

I was really impressed with Paul's barbering skills - he took almost an hour to cut my hair. Properly.

Not rushed. No clippers, just scissors, comb & razor.

And yes - a haircut every month - I like to keep myself looking trimmed and neat.

Look out for the new Chaps and Dames website (maybe) I'm sure we'll discuss in detail soon.

    : )
  • I fondly remember the days when I had enough hair for an hour long haircut.

These days I'm a Mets £6 special kind of guy. They get it right every time, not the military style either.

I also refuse to do mates rates websites, take over half baked projects and charge more for work that a regular client might spring on me in the eleventh hour.

  • @matt - I so know you're right.

Whenever anyone mentions FREE to me I get all excited.
