  • Maybe next they should waste some money exploring gender neutral pronouns.
  • Worth looking at the thread about this on Harringay online - the poll from the council shows that people on the street are overwhelmingly against the change.

Recent council papers show the overall price (taking into account £300 per resident) plus a whole host of legal and admin costs, put it at over 186k.

    Absolute madness.

The residents made a conscious decision to move into that street and they don't want hassle losing all their post and NHS letters and lost taxi drivers and what not for the next 10 years. The council will have succeeded in some form of virtuous attempt to change things and will move onto the next spending more money on something else only not to see it to fruition. Haringey knew all along the residents are against it but wanted a wider consultation for political reasons.
  • Surely better to put the effort into choosing suitably diverse sources when naming new roads/parks/libraries/whatever, and educate people properly about the origins of existing names?

That would save all the disruption and cost, while still giving due recognition to the contributions of a wider group of people, and everyone might even learn something.

@HolbornFox - Seven Siblings Road, perhaps?

Or don't spend any time or money on unnecessary things at all where government shouldn't interfere, let people work it out for themselves all and give money to schools or other core services.
