I'm going to meet up with 'fozze' the night before and cause the most mischief in the whole world, i wish.
A fox had been at the bins on Mount View this morning and there were unsusual blue dog ends all over the path.
Is that the empty place?
I didn't realise you were an Upper East Sider Arky.
Yup, opposite Albany Rd. Can I join your gang? Where are you on Mount View? I have one of the best views. Hope this works:

Yeah the empty place that they are renovating. Impressive job – they actually had one JCB under the house passing up soil to another JCB in front of the house, which then moved it into a skip. I’ve seen two lorry loads of concrete bags being moved down there, and several lorry loads of stone blocks. They’re installing a massive lightwell too.
Arky
I can't get the fecking image to work, and the guidance isn't helping. Someone correct me. ... OK figured it out, but if only shows part of the image rather than resizing it... A
About half the time it's too hazy to see much, but on a clear day it's breathtaking - you can see the roof of St Paul's and even the Crystal Palace Transmitter.
I'm new to photobucket, but I think you can access this link http://s974.photobucket.com/albums/ae221/Redarkady/Mount%20View/ where I have lots of view shots, some at night.
Did anyone see the very tall man in a bear costume raising money for kids in FP station a week or so back? Someone else was doing the same thing this morning, but she was less entertaining as she wasn't shouting really loudly in a very odd voice, like the geek with the Afro in the IT Crowd. A
@miss annie That may well have been the one, yeah. Her predecessor must have been 6'5'' even before he put on the platforms and the bear costume.
There was also a guy... on Tuesday I think... calling out "Big Issue! Big Issue!" from outside the Wells Terrace entrance. However, his ability to sell was somewhat compromised by his choosing to lay face down on the pavement. There were a couple of coppers there and it looked like he was protesting against being moved on. One of those cases where you don't know whether to be amused or distressed. A
@arkady that man was there when i went to work at 8.30am, and when i came back at 9pm. that green tiger suit must have smelt something awful. the woman in the tunnel today though, what on earth was she dressed as? it was kind of a large yellow warlock princess arrangement.
i'm sure most of the people raising money in that tunnel are all from the outrageous UCKG anyway. if you look closely you can often see their symbols on the buckets. so i bet no kids get a penny from them, it just goes towards buying another listed building and turning it into a creepy church.
Thanks for the UKCG head's up Sophie, as I sometimes do lob any loose change in those buckets to assuage my tattered conscience. I think the bear and the warlock were working for Cancer Research but maybe mistaken.
He was pretty weird though right? A
I once had a long chat with Nigel Planer at a party. Nice bloke, although he did try to convince me that We Will Rock You was a good show. He may have been biased what with being in it and everything. We then discussed rights of fathers for a good long time, a subject on which he was quite interesting.
ben, what research! i tend to just avoid all shakies unless there is a specific announcement about who they are collecting for, like they do at holborn station. the ones in the tunnel often just say something like "money for the ill children", which is too vague for me, even if they're not associated with the UCKG. they are absolutely loaded and must get so much money for the charitable arm from their members, who are under huge pressure to donate. so i don't feel guilty about not giving them anything.
i think that cancer research UK fundraisers have to wear very big obvious logos saying CRUK or the diamond pattern thing. i work for them and they are incredibly hot on it, but i don't know what the rules are if someone just takes it upon themselves to independently raise money for them.
re: the green tiger, i did wonder if he was high. he looked very manic. not sure about the warlock, i didn't look closely at her bucket as i was too distracted by her outfit.
i don't think my comments really fit with the title of this thread.
so in other news, the ducklings are hatching in the park!
Oooo ducklings! I will go and have a look tonight.
Last week I was enjoying a walk with Four Eyes when we spotted a Woodpecker (tree next to the bowling green) and a pair of Pied Wagtails (opposite end of the lake to the cafe).
I really like the new man who does tap dancing at the tube station, just where the buses disgorge their passengers. I feel bad that I haven't given him any money yet though. I will.
In wildlife-related news, I have taught a squirrel in my garden to eat hazelnuts out of my hands. I had cracked the nuts for it already, but I have since learnt that they like to do it themselves.
JFJ - Do you live in the Islington or Haringay side? Islington council were pretty good at dealing with my noisy neighbours when I lived on their side. It's a good idea to start making a list of specific incidents - dates/times/type of noise (music/shouting/car alarms/construction work) and if you can talk to your other neighbours and get them to call in and complain as well it'll give you more clout.
I am regularly woken up by my upstairs neighbour having sex at all hours of the night but I never see him to complain about it. His night-time antics must render him too exhausted to get up during the day.
It’s a tricky one with sex noises though. Other untimely or overloud noises at inappropriate hours really wind me up, and I’ve been known to go to some extremes to discourage people from trampling on my legitimate peace and quiet. But I would feel rather churlish if I whinged about somebody getting their rocks off, as long as they didn’t get a gong to announce their orgasm like the fellahs in Scrubs. Misscara, is there a particular time of night when it would be acceptable for your neighbour to be having a root, or are you complaining about the extreme volume of the jungle noises regardless of their timing? A
It tends to start at around 1am, and go on til about 3am. I'm actually quite impressed by his stamina and really a little bit jealous.
