James Selby on Holloway Road are good, there are two chairs in the beauty dept.
When I have time I get the little single decker bus to Dalston and go to the walk in place inside the shopping centre - the entrance is on Ridley Road market side. it's very good and cheap. It's quite near to Wah!, the trendsetting nail salon du jour, too. -
I've paid £20 at some swanky salon in Marylebone and £4 on Holloway Seven sisters rd market. Both hurt like hell and left me with an angry purple brow for a couple of hours, however the result was pretty much the same. I'm not particularly hairy so don't mind braving the Holloway one every couple of months. And they don't seen to understand English so I can get away with various expletives without them batting an eyelid.

Misscara, it always hurts like stink but you shouldn't have red/purpleness for more than about half an hour afterwards! Try Selbys.
Also, as with waxing, a nurofen or similar about 45 mins beforehand works wonders. -

Hi miss annie, thanks for the Nurofen tip, will try next time. I think I'm just particularly sensitive to the whole process so the redness seems to last longer on me. I forgot to mention another reason I like the Holloway one is that I left my handbag there a few months ago and wandered round like an idiot wondering where I'd left it. When I got it back there they gave it straight to me and everything was still there, including the £250 I'd just got from the cash machine, and ipod, phone etc.
