Whiff Whaff
  • Apparently this is Boris’s term for Table Tennis and a 100 ping-pong tables will be placed in squares, estates, shopping centres and train stations across the capital, free for all to enjoy. Bats and balls are provided, all you need is an opponent.

Started the past weekend, anyone come across one yet and had a go ?

  • There was one last Thursday at St Pancras upstairs between the Betjeman Arms and Carluccios.

Incidentally the Betjeman’s is fast becoming my favourite London pub. If you’ve never been, go immediately. Great food, splendid ale and cider selection (served in proper jugs) and views over the new Eurostar Terminal – the beer ‘garden’ is under the Victorian station roof.

  • According to the map there is one in Wray Cresent.

How did Boris gets this past the LibCons.

I guess it will be a one off

  • @Ali
I believe that Boris is using the Victorian gentlemen's term for ping pong. Just one of many reasons why I'm fond of Boris.
Must be inside the little park at Wray Crescent, no?
  • Yes it is in the kids's playground. You just ask the park keepers for the bats and ball.
  • The one at St Pancras Station is good. It makes for an impressive backdrop for revealing one's ping pong skills

  • Ah, Arklady beat me to it.
  • The one at the British Library is good too, lots of tramps watching the game and cheering on the opponents.

  • I lost to my friend on the Golden Square table the other day, but he had been the Kent under-14 champion. I then found a ten pound note on the pavement on my way back to the office. Despite all the money I've frittered away on rubbish, finding some is still enormously exciting.

  • I found a ten pound note on Moray Road the other day, it was ever so exciting, like money from heaven. I went straight to Tesco and spent it on a lovely bottle of wine.
