Apparently this is Boris’s term for Table Tennis and a 100 ping-pong tables will be placed in squares, estates, shopping centres and train stations across the capital, free for all to enjoy. Bats and balls are provided, all you need is an opponent.
Started the past weekend, anyone come across one yet and had a go ?
There was one last Thursday at St Pancras upstairs between the Betjeman Arms and Carluccios.
Incidentally the Betjeman’s is fast becoming my favourite London pub. If you’ve never been, go immediately. Great food, splendid ale and cider selection (served in proper jugs) and views over the new Eurostar Terminal – the beer ‘garden’ is under the Victorian station roof.
I lost to my friend on the Golden Square table the other day, but he had been the Kent under-14 champion. I then found a ten pound note on the pavement on my way back to the office. Despite all the money I've frittered away on rubbish, finding some is still enormously exciting.
