Reusing items saves money, reduces waste and is a way to do something positive for the environment
  • Reusing threads saves churn, reduces waste and is a way to do something positive for the internet.

That aside, how does this differ from Freecycle? If it's the same then - as with the threads - why bother with the duplication?
  • Reusing ideas that are proven to already work for someone else is a proven way to make residual cash from advertising. Spambotting forums also save actual leg work. mr van hill will likely never see these comments...
  • Bin raid olympics seems to work well enough without all the faff.

  • I could never be a member of a forum where "ADMIN NOTE|-- Post deleted because of insulting content --|ADMIN NOTE" was likely to appear outside quote marks.
  • I've deleted the comment, banned the user and removed the duplicate thread, for two excellent reasons:

    1. I can
    2. The rules, the VERY RULES of the site that spammed us with two duplicate threads were:

The following are required rules which all freegive groups also choose to adopt: You agree to act responsibly and to treat other users with respect. No pornography, no politics, no spam, no money, no personal attacks, no religion, no alcohol, no tobacco, no drugs, no credit cards, no counterfeit items, no stolen property, no police-related items, no firearms or other weapons etc. Users that break the group rules will be removed from or banned from the group after one inappropriate postings

So, I'm banning them on the grounds of gross offences to irony. Not that we need grounds, mind you.

  • @ADGS - Quite right.

  • @andy - quite right

  • Those seem like bloody stupid restrictions, as well. What's so wrong about Freecycling, say, a copy of The Pilgrim's Progress or A Very British Coup, or a bottle of whisky received as a present by someone who doesn't like it?
