We're not gentrified now.
  • We can't be, they're opening a "Cheque Centre" on the Stroud Green Road.

  • Oh my!

I'm sure that at least one person here will be thrilled that there is something to offset BBM and Season. There'll be no one with sweaters over shirts in 'Cheque Centre'.

  • Could be a drop in centre for people who share a love of the Czech Republic?

  • whereabouts?
  • @ Miss Annie. Maybe a certain mutation from the Shoreditch set will go wandering into 'Cheque Centre' with sweaters tied over their shoulders.

I can see it now, sideburns, pink sweaters tied loosely round the neck over shoulders, man-bags and maybe beards (although they seem to be going out of fashion with the trendy set lately).
  • They may have fallen out of fashion with that set but they are alive and kicking here...

The most impressive brace of beards I've seen outside of the Canadian rugby team.

  • Unless Cheque Centre is actually the arrival of a trendy Dalston-style bar
  • I guess this is a reflection of the recession led recovery the government is promising.

  • I noticed this new shop too on the way home last night. It's nextdoor to Cats.
  • It's nextdoor to Cats.

Panic over. So, it's on Lower Stroud Green Road. You'll never see one on USGR.
  • LSGR is the best bit though!

Season, Petek, Dotori (at a stretch given the distance), Cats, Fullback (sort of counts) and there's plenty more where that came from!

  • I already have a cheque cashing centre on USGR. It's called the Stapleton Tavern. It works out quite expensive, you have to buy beer.
  • Mega cafe?
  • @ Papa L, I thought the same when I saw the name 'Cheque Centre' i.e. Dalston Superstore, ironic appropriation of 'ghetto chic'. That 'rapper' on the front of the Guide last Saturday 'Kreayshawn' would probably hang out in it.
  • @ miss annie - the Canadian rugby set has a great set of beards. I think they might have shaved them off now that their out of the RWC. When I turned on the telly the other morning I thought I had got the wrong programme involving some later incarnation of teen wolf: beard here

  • I've spent the last 30-years listening to the other half telling me that we're "living in an up-and-coming area. You'll see." An by and large that has been correct.
What goes around comes around I suppose.

Small mercy it's not called 'Check Center'.
  • I wonder who is going to use the facilities that this offers.

Anyone considering should appraise themselves of this

    All quite unpleasant

Did the solicitor shut down because of completion from across the road?

Howdy, Stranger!
