Category clean up
  • Just spent half an hour mucking around with the categories, moving posts around and generally tidying up. I have such an exciting life.

    Check it out here: http://www.stroudgreen.org/categories.php

Should all be pretty obvious. The three big changes are:

    • There are now two "Local" categories. One for general stroudgreeny stuff and one for pubs, shops and restaurants.

    • There's a separate category for TV, music, film and Youtube videos.

    • There's a new category: Eugene's Lair - This is for all the techie stuff that was starting to bog us down a bit.

I was going to wipe "pets" as it has only ever had 9 posts, so feels a bit redundant. But I didn't because I'm scared of you.

Also "General chat" and "Go off on one" seem a bit similar, but I think they are still separate.

    Any suggestions?

I get the feeling there's room for another category or two

  • Also, you can go the categories page and 'block category' if you want.

If you click that, then when you click discussions, then none of the posts from a blocked category will be shown. You can unblock it at any time.
  • Note to Lucy:

TURN OFF SPORT & EUGENE'S LAIR

  • I'm going to take my posts somewhere else really, as almost all my posts have gone into the lair, and a lot of them were really current affairs, and stuff i'm doing as i don't live in stroud green.

What was wrong with "stuff found"? Surprisingly, found stuff on a computer will often be about a computer.
  • Loving the Eugene's Lair definition. Definitely counts me out.

  • There's nothing wrong with the Lair. David and I will still be there.

It's just that they're a bit specialist for a lot of our more generalist readers.

You have once already. And still you come back. And we love having you around.

  • Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing it (sorry, but I can't think of another word this early in the morning) - I think it's a good thing and am just ashamed of my own ignorance.

  • I'm ill and allowed to strop and be oversensitive.
  • Thank you David, will follow your advice. I have just had Eugene's Lair explained to me! Didn't like to say that I didn't know what manic miner was either.

Howdy, Stranger!
