black cabs...
manor house to gibson square and all that...the first run in the blue book...
yellow badge...green badge...local driver or all london driver
on the cotton...the quickest route as the crow flys
knowledge schools..where drivers learn
runs.. the hundreds of runs in the blue book
appearances.. before examiners
the blue book..text book for drivers
but a boy butterboys... on the mopeds learning knowledge
knowledge boys
complaining to tfl if drivers wont take you from upper st to n4 on arsenal match days...tfl controls taxis
twice round the park - hyde park ...ladies of the night say this to drivers when with clients
green huts in the middle of the road where drivers eat
the new cabs where you cant open the window
"be lucky" - cab drivers say when they drop you at home
some drivers dont pick you up in upper st as they want to go to west end ...is it the older drivers who do this?
the younger drivers seem more keen to earn and older drivers want to do what they want to do ie city n west end...
when the orange light is on - dosent always mean they will pick up...
licensed london taxis know their knowledge beats a sat nav in town but out of town they switch on the tom tom to beat the speed cameras n to get to unknown home counties etc
google "licensed london taxi" for info...
just wondering what other peoples experiences were with using black cabs
sometimes i find they wont take you if they have light on and you flag them down
such as going from n4 - they say they dont want to go to blackstock rd perhaps as they want to go to west end
or if you flag a cab down at angle tube in upper st and say you want stroud green rd - some drivers perhaps about 5 or 10 percent of them say they wont take you but dont give a reason, but they just want west end n city etc
you can complain to tfl transport for london online if you take cab number on inside of cab door on back of cab if drivers have light on and wont take you but who does
some yellow badge - local badge - drivers dont like leaving local area
amazed that some drivers forget to put their orange lights on or even switch on metre as they forget
Lovely poems, chrisn4, thanks
