  • Agreed. It's a lo easier to get to things that start at 6:30.
  • The library closes at 7pm and although in the past it has run events starting at 7pm, the librarian currently has no budget to staff out-of-hours activities and not enough staff on in the daytime to offer cover for someone coming in late and staying late. She is doing the best she can to keep a lively programme running in difficult circumstances. Some events are on Saturday afternoons to offer variety.

  • I think the library could only stay open if a member of staff was on site and there is no time off in lieu for library staff these days. There are even problems with them getting cover for their lunchtimes and, overall, staff numbers are down. <div>We don't charge for events / talks because the idea is to encourage as wide a use of the library as possible with no barriers to access.<br><div>We do offer tea / coffee / biscuits at events and have a donations tin and we use the proceeds to buy refreshments for the next event.</div></div><div>Personally, given that the new CEO of Haringey has come from Barnet - where there were few libraries left unscathed by his tenure coupled with the news of the latest cuts to council coffers from central government I am very worried about the future of the library service. </div><div>Please visit the library frequently and take out books. And join the Friends group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FriendsOfStroudGreenAndHarringayLibrary/post</div>;
