I've been a Stroudgreener for only 6 months and quickly adopted the Faltering Fullback as my closest and nicest local but am seriously wavering...
My visits are becoming less and less frequent and more often than not I find it too crowded/noisy/smoky/studenty/grubby/cliquey/overpriced.
Now the Dairy's closed I'm struggling for a new surrogate local. Any recommendations? -
Well, Old Dairy relaunch might be your saviour if they somehow manage to pitch it right (i'm not holding my breath) but I'm struggling to see where your requirements fit, a Gastro would fit the less crowded, less noisy and less smokey attributes, but if you want a cheaper pint, you're almost always gonna get the smokey, studenty and grubby side of things. I always thought the fullback did a great job of balancing a real pub without sliding into White Lion territory.
What's your favourite pub in London?

I shouldn't be over-critical of the Fullback, it is a great pub. Just think I was a bit grumpy when I posted this last night. I used to live on the Harringay side of the tracks and was a big fan of The Salisbury.

But isn't the Salisbury a bit Gastro and pricey?
