• You won't get many in this forum who see it that way , Sutent. I do. Stand by for loud disagreement and worse, from some of the regulars...
  • I know Chekski. No can can however deny his relentless anti fascism work, and how well he looked after his members at the RMT.

Not from over here Checkski. I shall retain a dignified silence and not speak ill of the dead. Just as the leftists did when Maggie died. Boris's tribute was tactful I thought.
  • Did you think so, Miss Annie? I found it hypocritical.
  • Didn't agree with him and often vemently opposed him (even when he was representing my interests) but he was very good at his job and I hope will act as a role model for many. He has also made a massive positive difference to many of his members (and as a result London in general).
• I did. He didn't profess to like him, but acknowledged his relentless work on behalf of his comrades. Whatever he said would have been criticised, I thought he did well. What would you rather he had said?
  • Nothing. Boris is a bigmouth, and one of London's greatest enemies.
  • I'm not sure that's entirely fair. He's a friend to London's richest inhabitants.
  • I am glad you said that chekski and not me. An avalanche of abuse will be coming your way..

Crow saw no contradictions on being a communist and travelling 1st class . Chang

  • Pre-emptive complaining and homophobic trolling. This site has gone very wrong.
  • Good to see Boris in Cannes today wooing international developers to London

  • Checkski, what Boris said was dignified and respectful for a man who was ultimately his political enemy.

That is not hypocritical. That is to say, in a part of my life this man is my foe, but I respect him, his right to hold his views and his right to fight for them. Just because you disagree with someone's views or politics does not mean that you have to hate them or bad mouth them.

Many on the left who rejoice in dancing on the graves of their enemies would do well to learn that this only makes them look bad.

Like Boris I didn't agree with Bob Crow, his politics, or much of his actions. But I quite liked him and admired his decision to spend a life fighting for what he saw as something that was right.

That does not make me a hypocrite either.

• I didn't like Bob Crow and there is no point in saying otherwise. For his friends and family it's a shame. "Margaret Thatcher destroyed industry in this country and she can rot in hell" Bob Crow I feel he held London to ransom but it's no reason to gloat at someone's death. So I wont.
  • @detritus That Bob Crow quote somewhat proves my point.
• @ Papa - proves your point about what?
  • Man alive, its like banging common sense against a brick wall on here sometimes.

@andy - can you just put us out of our misery and shut the site down?

  • RIP, Bob, an anti-fascist and a man who fought his corner and stood up for his union members and to the obnoxious right wing press.

God forbid a member of the working class and a socialist travels a bit further afield than Margate and wears a stylish hat...

  • @sutent ;I'm sure you can read the run of posts in this thread where my two comments sit, so I really cannot be bothered to spell it out any clearer than I already have done.

Bob Crow didn't mean enough to me to get sucked into some daft class warrior argument on here.

I'm out.

  • No one has said anything derogatory about Bob Crow, but people are still squaring up for a fight. Odd.
  • I think some people were expecting derogatory comments and were ready for a fight. When none materialised they were a little shocked and are now looking for the fight they were expecting to be brought.

  • I sat beside him once on a puddle hopper to Dundee. Perfectly polite and nice chap
  •
@Misscara. Yes thats sort of true. The view that triggered all the nonsense on this page was once again nothing to with an actual opinion of an individual, it was their need to outline in advance how others would disagree with their personal and how bad they all were for being that way. Nobody had even said a word, that's what gets on everyones nerves.

Bob Crow did his job well. I wish he'd been worse at it. Its always sad to see someone pass so early in their life. Its a shame that scoring political points seems to be the norm after something like this. No class.

  • @Brodiej - have you always been such a sage-like purveyor of wisdom and calm reason? You're approaching Andy's level.

someone praised bob crowe as an anti fascist. FFS 99.9% of ppl in the UK are anti fascist, dont give him a halo just cos he went on a few marches and voted to pay for a few union delegates to go on a fact finding trip to Cuba or Rhyl

chang
