Harringey have just informed me about the CPZ they are introducing outside my flat.
Hooray! I thought. No more football visitors taking up all the parking on the street.
But oh no. I have to pay £25 per year for the privilege of parking between 10am-12pm Monday - Friday.
I doubt very much that Blythwood Road is used by commuters to park and ride their way into town ... certainly when I look out of my window on your average morning there’s plenty to space outside ... and it practically welcomes Aresenal fans to come and park there on match days.
This is tantamount to a tax per car for the residents. Utter crap!
Our Finsbury Park CPZ really p***** me off. I don't have a car myself but whenever I have visitors I can never work out on match days whether it's safe to park or not. The signs are so open to different interpretation that I'm always left scratching my head in confusion. Last Weds night happened to be a match night and a friend of mine called over and we couldn't work out where to park. The signs imply that on match days it's OK to park if you pay at the machine after a certain time but the machines say 'restrictions apply' and don't let you buy a ticket.
The only consolation is that in the 6 months I've lived here I've never seen a Haringey traffic warden, but the Islington side of SGR seems to be crawling with them as they head down to their HQ near the station.
Seems the council have approved the measure... time to swap your car for a hybrid I guess http://www.hornseyjournal.co.uk/content/haringey/hornseyjournal/news/story.aspx?brand=HCEJOnline&category=news&tBrand=northlondon24&tCategory=newshcej&itemid=WeED02%20May%202007%2011%3A23%3A15%3A883
