I'm going to Season, and then to the Park Theatre. Perhaps I will finish my evening in the Stapleton - seems appropriate. See you in there?
  • I'll recognise you by the Eighteenth century costume
  • I am going cycling in the south coast. I will try and make it to the stapleton in the evening
  • I am going to Chatham Historic Naval Dockyard. I'll try to get to the Stapleton late on. I may be able to pick up a sea captain's uniform or a brig or two. Or a parrot.
  • will you bring your budgie Krappy?
  • I have a life size parrot you can borrow. :(|)
  • There is some good history about this here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Stroud_Green

Krappy did you do the update ?

Lots of other local stuuf as well.

I didn't know the wooden hut taxi office at the tube on SGR was an original coal office
• I drove to Dorset and back. The drive down took five and a half hours (that's what happens on a Friday in July); the drive back, two and a half. The weather was either thunderstorms and downpours, or blazing muggy heat.

I can see this isn't obviously the most loyal way to spend SG day, but there is probably a neat metaphor somewhere in here about why it is good to be in SG, excellent to return, and best never to leave it.

  • I didn't make it to the pub. Did I miss any merriment?
  • I missed my train back from Eastbourne and didnt get home until 2am.

£10 return to the seaside an absolute bargain. Southern trains as always offer fantastic ticket deals. with the merger with Govia I hope they will offer these deals from Finsbury Park especially when the trains will go directly to the seaside.

  • I am afraid I went for a stroll along the Thames near Maidenhead and ended up feeling rather under the weather. Still do. Possible heat exhaustion exacerbated by too much ice cream and self-poisoning with home made soused herring sandwiches.
  • Well it sounds like much fun was had, only not in Stroud Green.

For my part, I had a most splendid steak at Season (2nd visit of the year - I do feel privileged), followed by the truly wonderful and very moving Intimate Apparel at the Park Theatre.

  • What did you think of the play Arkady?
Did you take advantage of the pre theatre Season deal?

  • I didn’t notice any deal being advertised (is that a weekday-only thing?). I’m always astonished at how great value it is – barely more than a pub meal and the quality is as good as I’ve had anywhere.

I loved the play to death. Incredible stuff. If I were to be curmudgeonly and make a single criticism, it would be that the Mr Armstrong character’s accent drifted between the intended Bajan and a passable Somerset brogue, and I found that a bit distracting.

It would be reasonable to point out that there were some very good-looking people involved.
• Glad you enjoyed play. Agree it was superb on every level.

They do an early bird meal - http://www.seasonkitchen.co.uk/ - £15

  • In that case we more or less did get it – the price was just over £70 for four people, but we had a (very good) wine that was a rung or two above the house white.
  • Thats great value. I am assuming you didn't take advantage of their yummy deserts. The Rosemanrry chocalate pot is very nice
  • I mean great value for Seasons. I have paid much more in there in the past
  • Sadly we had no time for the chocolate pot. Very sad. Did gorge myself on the treacle rye bread though.
