Finsbury Park in Time Out

I was pleasantly surprised to see a page in this week's Time Out magazine covering Finsbury park. If I knew how to post pictures on here I would upload a photo of it but you might find it on the website... I'm not sure I'd describe the world's end as 'a lovely laid back pub' but otherwise the article is accurate!

I hear that they claim Finsbury Park is known as 'Little Algiers', which is news to me.

Our end of Blackstock Road has always been Little Algeria, to me. What else could it possibly be? And my summer cafe, in front of the buses lining up to go north, is the Brioche d'Or, and an excellent place to practise one's French. I've never met a Little Algerian who doesn't speak French.

I've thought that the Algerian presence has been less discernible of late.  And there has long been as many Kurdish and Ethiopian business as Algerian on Blackstock Road, judging by the signage. Now there is an interesting Italian café too, and that curious new 1940s-themed foodie place which apparently serves incredible breakfasts.

"1940s-themed foodie place which apparently serves incredible breakfasts" ....hello! What's this?<br><br>Little Algiers is new to me too, I lived on Blackstock Rd for a while in the mid 2000s and it seemed mainly Kurds/North Africans but Algerians only seemed a minority in that.<br>

Haringey maybe but Islington are so anti night clubs/late night drinking that I can't see the Holloway end of Seven Sisters Road having anything and the other end of Seven Sisters Road is lots of development (Woodberry Down etc).  Some of the warehouses at the back of Wood Green and around Seven Sisters itself would be good clubs.<br><br>Night tube will definitely help expand the list of potential areas for improved night life.  I'm really looking forward to Night Tube!<br>

at what point does Seven Sisters Rd turn from islington to haringey? <div><br></div><div>I went to a few crazy raves behind manor house station in the big ivy house place. is that still there? </div>

At Finsbury Park! And even then it's only Haringey on the park side, Hackney on the south side.  It becomes Hackney on both sides at Manor House.
