edited November 2016 in Local discussion
Stroud Green WI proudly presents the Stroud Green WInter Fair, a festive abundance of craft and Christmas gift stalls plus a spectacular WI cake stall and fantastic raffle. IT’S ALL FOR A BRILLIANT CAUSE! For 2016 the event is raising money for local charity, Haringey Young Musicians. Local charity Haringey Young Musicians offers out-of-school music groups to anyone of school age, living or attending school in Haringey. Each group meets weekly for ten sessions per term, culminating in a concert performance with other HYM groups. As well as high profile engagements around the country and successful participation in national competitions, many of the groups have toured abroad, including highly acclaimed cultural exchange visits to schools in Europe, China, USA, the Caribbean, South Africa, and South America. Stroud Green WI supports Haringey Young Musicians’ belief that every child is entitled to a stimulating, challenging and accessible educational experience in music, and we look forward to welcoming the Haringey Vox choir to the WInter Fair who recently performed in the Royal Albert Hall and are now preparing for a cultural exchange trip to Barbados in February 2017. CAKE STALL! Another highlight of the fair will be the spectacular WI cake stall, demonstrating that our members live-up to the WI’s reputation of being superb bakers! RAFFLE! • This list is quite something. Will have to show up. I wish a few of these choices were more available during the rest of the year. It grieves me deeply the disappointing cake offerings in the neighbourhood. (Although I love many of the cafes so this feels treacherous to say.)
  • A monthly cake stall would be a winner...
  • Thanks @pembe we are proud of the variety we offer at our cake stalls. It just demonstrates how skilled our members are. Please come along on Saturday and say hello.

We also run a very popular cake stall at the Crouch End Festival in June.
