    Having checked out the black & white photos in the Dairy most of them are not particularly local ! ie Highgate etc

    The White Lion has installed about 6 history panels which are excellent with loads of photos and history of the area at a around 1880 or so.

    Did you know that the Mr Basset of Liquorish Allsorts fame used to live on the corner of Stroud Green Rd, Hanley Rd where the docs surgery is all that Woody’s Grill used to be the Regina Library shop !

    The corners of street used to have cobbled raised platforms (just like the traffic calming ones that are being put in) so you could walk across the road without getting horse muck on your shoes.

    Fascinating stuff - but who dares to brave the regulars at the front while you get to the back on the pub to have a look ?
