We're trying a few new things out on the site, including better polls, email updates and stuff like that.

Inevitably, when we add these things, we normally break the site or install it wrong. So we'll announce the new stuff as it comes online and it would be good to here from you all if it works (or not).

For those who are interested, the list of things to add can be found here: http://lussumo.com/addons/

I'm also lobbying for a new banner, but David is less keen.

For the record i'm for a new design which involves no banner, rather than wanting to keep the status quo. I think we make some mocks up andy when we find a moment and put it to the members.

Any photoshopers out there, feel free to submit ideas, we're not precious about this and welcome input.

Don't change the banner. I like the dark green. (plus it matches my Finsbury Park photo on the welcome page)

Obviously, I hadn't considered the fact that when we opened it up for discussion people might actually disagree with me.

    Dammit.

One issue with the 'welcome/front page' is that no-one really visits it, so it's kind of a deadspace. My thought is that we need to wrap some stuff around the main discussions column to signpost some of the other stuff (e.g. directory, other sites, maybe some other bits and pieces like local events + ads etc)

I like the green too - it's very serious.

Something different might be better, could we have themed weeks like the Xmas one, or a guest week and each submit a banner that sums up SG for us?

Yes I like the idea of the members inputting to the look of the site - i'm just a bit meh about it being the banner, something more original. I think some surfing for inspiration is needed.

Ok I now understand what Twitter and Tumblr are. Tumblr looks better to me. I think you're right Pete, though not convinced it'll catch on. I've set up stroudgreen.tumblr.com and will have a play. I think the idea will be you can post an image or whatever of something local from your and we'll have a space that shows it. If anyone wants the email address you post to I'll email it to you. I won't have it showing on this site immediately, lets see how it goes, but the address above will operate live.

    Some comments...

Clicking on "Who's Online" names while in a thread gives a link which doesn't work...

    E.g.

    http://www.stroudgreen.org/discussion/712/new-stuff/account.php?u=62

    When it should be...

    http://www.stroudgreen.org/account.php?u=62

Also, the blockhunter image seems to have gone walkies and I have to log into the site everytime I return in spite of clicking the "remember me" box.

    I thought you'd like to know. ;-)

Will fix the whose online thingie. A few things broke when we shifted to friendly URLs. The remember box is a known problem with vanilla I'm not sure I can fix but yes, i'd like that to work too. Will research a bit.

    A bug report...

In the Directory... clicking on a link within a section, say, 'services' causes a flag to appear on the map. Deleting that flag causes the list of all items under 'services' to be appended to the existing services list.
