    Hi All

This is my first time here, and I'm posting an ad, of all things. The nerve of some people...

I have a large double room to rent in the 2-bed flat where I live, in Woodstock Road. It's going to be available from 7th March, and I'm looking for someone friendly, solvent and house-trained; initially for 6 months but possibly longer. The flat itself is split-level, nice and bright, with a balcony, large lounge and kitchen. It's also in a really good spot, between the Fullback and the tube - so thought I'd see whether any locals are interested before I advertise worldwide.

The price is £550 pcm inclusive. Happy to email email photos or arrange a look-around if anyone's interested.

    Thanks
    Jayne

that's all very well, but what sort of biscuits do you like?

... and answer me this: Porchetta or Papagone?
    • CommentAuthorJayne
    • CommentTimeFeb 27th 2008

    Crumbs
    um
Jaffa Cakes or... if they don't qualify...a chocolate finger or plain chocolate digestive from the fridge

Pizza-wise, Porchetta wins by a mile, but the place really needs a lick a of paint.

So does anyone need a room?

Me neither, thanks Jayne, however I concur on the jaffa cakes and plain chocolate digestives.

Sometimes you can't beat a good fig roll though.

Jayne, welcome to the forums, shame we can't help you. It's indicative of this place that the question of "Room to rent" ends with the answer "You can't beat a good fig roll"

I like malted cow biscuits, or whatever they're really called.

We need to make a "list of things that Colette hates". Because it seems to be a pretty long list, covering about 60-70% of things mentioned on this site.

And Jayne - it's nice to see we've brought you down to our level.

pink wafers, what is that all about?

    I love pink wafers.

    So artificial.

I've had to put up with them ever since the whole of SGR stopped stocking lemon Quadratini.

    1) People spelling my name "Collette". Tsk.

I do hate a lot of things, but I love this website, and pink wafers, so I'm not all evil. And Tosscat, you have obviously never tasted a Farley's rusk (no, I don't have children).
What's a lemon quadratini? is it like a lemon puff? I suspect not.
This biscuit conversation may be my favourite yet.

I love fig rolls, garibaldi, jaffa cakes, milk chocolate hob nobs and weird turkish chocolate bars called "Metro" that i can't seem to find any more.

    I think I've found a flatmate - thanks everyone!

Now I want a fig roll.

What were those cheap toffee biscuits - Toffe Pops..? Sunrise used to sell them and they were a bit like Twix but flatter. They were pretty good.

Londis do Toffee Pops, but they're not anywhere near as cheap as Fig Rolls. I blame the toffee.

ps: www.moveflat.co.uk is great to find housemates

So that's the difference. Toffee Pops are Australasian

    Toffy Pops are... Irish

Well spotted! I'll correct my spelling of it, in future.

Also, Burton's Foods (maker of Toffy Pops) are based in NW Enland rather than ireland. Not sure why all the images of Toffy Pops on the web are hosted on Irish food sites...

Lemon puffs are never as lemony as you wish they were but lemon quadratini are little square wafers that have a real zing to them.

I'm not familiar with Quadratini, but that packet looks similar to to that of some German wafer biscuits I bought in Sainsbury's the other week (henceforth known as the 'Biscuits of Doom', so eminently scoffable are they).
