So my French is patchy, but they're having a big summit at the Emirates tomorrow and Arsene loves the Queen.

I love this bit - you don't need to speak any French to understand it:

"Le Professeur", comme on le surnomme, a transformé une équipe dominée par des Anglais solides mais sans imagination

Whoever failed to plan additional transport links for the Emirates deserves a bit of a shoe-ing. Murder on the Piccadilly line tonight (OK, not literally)...

Throw one shoe each at TFL and Arsenal PLC. Greedy and inefficient.

"The club also agreed to pay £7.6m towards upgrading Holloway Road and Drayton Park stations among other transport improvements - money now saved following Transport for London's decision that it represents better value to rebuild the other two interchange stations"

Hmmm... probably planned by the same people that spent "millions" on Wells Terrace to remove the roof that kept everyone dry and ..... no, that was it.

    J'aime Arsene Wenger et Arsenal.
Je deteste La Reine, Mr Sarkozy et Carla Bruni.

    Point final.

Glyn - agree about the transport situation this evening - it was abysmal.

    *smug cyclist*

although I nearly mowed down a few Brazilians cycling past the Emirates last night. Why do they feel the need to get to the ground TWO HOURS before kick off?

Why was the Sweden-Brazil match at the Emirates last night and not in Sweden or perhaps Brazil?

I think this is true ----

There are rules around international friendlies that says that they must be played where most of the players are based. Most of the Brazilians play in Europe. I think they also choose London for its large expat community and crowd potential. NZ and Australia played football last year at Loftus Road for the same reason. A small walk from the Walkabout.

    a) It won't last, they've only known each other for six months and been married for two of them

    b) CB has that translucent skin thing going on which if you were being unkind, you could call crepey (sp? - no way of spelling it looked good - Colette, where are you?)

    c) She smiles like a witless goon

    d) They must have to get up very early to bouf his hair - she'll soon tire of that

    e) He wears heels.

    b) I'm not sure. I've retired on these matters.

    d) He likes to go to bed early, presumably so that he can wake up early enough to bouf his hair.

    e) MASSIVE heels.
