brilliant new fish stall starting this sunday

Hi everybody! I'm writing a little earlier this week as it's quite an exciting development, this. In the wake of a pretty lacklustre effort by yorwarth's fish we've hit scaly silver with the Portland Scallop Company who are known for (1) freshness (2) huge variety (3) reliability. They only do a small handful of markets but sell a lot at each of them, building a reputation wherever they go (several years ago they were at Ally Pally - does anybody remember them?).

In spite of the same this is not just scallops but all sorts:

Fresh fish comes from their boat the Corinne Lucy, and other boats fishing off Portland. Bass, bream, monkfish, turbot, grey mullet, skate, plaice, brill and much more...

Shellfish includes hand-dived scallops, crab, rope-grown mussels, lobster, Poole clams, oysters and Cornish crevettes.

They also sell a wide range of smoked fish including; Scottish salmon, gravadlax, hot smoked salmon, kippers, oak smoked undyed haddock and oak smoked mackerel.

Jamie and Debbie who run the business will be at the market themselves, EVERY SUNDAY. It's quite a big deal for us, and hopefully for you too. Do support them!

Thanks awfully! from Ed

  • Went tosay. Bit pricey compared to Yorwarths - the dressed crab was £4 dearer. Yorwarth service maybe a bit patchy, but was disappointing with pricing today.
  • wow the mussels were very fresh! I don't know what's a good price for mussels - lily paid 9 pounds and fed 3 as a main course
