i love last.fm - it's the most accurate 'radio station in my head' since Magic FM.
The snapshot of my musical taste, is I'm afraid to say, pretty accurate: http://www.last.fm/user/firetail/
It's now asking me to subscribe. Does anyone do this? Does anyone else want to reveal their top artists/tracks?
Low compatability, but there's stuff on your list that I like but don't have (lupe fiasco + vampire weekend).
That said, I love that Jolene is your number 8 track.
I tried last fm about a year ago, and it broke my computer. Perhaps I was doing it wrong.
@Four Eyes - my equivalent of your Panic! at the Disco shame is Fall Out Boy. Emo Rules!
@ Poxy - saying you really really like Stump by Talking Heads is a bit of an understatement isn't it? (though itunes is telling me it's called strike up the band)
My closest neighbours seem to be women in their 20s from Oregon.
so if we put all of this in a group, would we get Radio Free Stroudgreen?
http://www.last.fm/group/Radio+Free+Stroudgreen
OK, so I've invited people who've posted their profiles. Others should join in if they want too. Then we can embed Radio Free Stroudgreen on the site.
Stump, wasn't that part of the out takes used to produce Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock? Mark Hollis was regularly in the Magpie and Stump in Stokey in the early 90's, I presume the name might come from that. Did you ever listen to his eponymous album, Poxy?
Me too. Heard Rustin Man's album with Beth Gibbons then? This suddenly feels like a music discussion that belongs in Eugene's Lair.
Amazon tells me my legit copy of the Portishead album should arrive today, along with the new Breeders and Raconteurs albums.
Yes - I am stuck in 1997.
I'm yet to like the new Portishead album. It's got that intricacy that makes me think if I keep listening something will open up for me, but its not happening. I'm still trying. Hmm.
Firewalls. The bane of web2.0 wannabes everywhere.
OK - the last.fm group is at 6 members - if we get to ten, other features get activated, so if you have a profile, can you join this group?

I am loving this radio station now.
Ta
I think it's a blend of i) member's playlists and ii) recommendations based on that.
So with 6 members, it's 16.7% your stuff and the rest is everyone elses.
Does he like GodFlesh? They were great. Circle of Shit being a favourite.
not to mention S Club 7, Neil Young and a Schubert - way to get eclectic/embarrassing on your asses! No didlyelectronical wotsit stuff though.
Cher's If I Could Turn Back Time popped up just now.
Is that directed at me or cher?
Andrew, I've just noticed that your last.fm name is 'firetail'.
Is that a sort of male version of this
There's a song on now called Swansea by some Appalachian lady - are the places twinned?
They should be.
Oo, I like TFF.
Ace. There can't be that many of them. If I see him in the street, I'm going to give him a hug.
Then we've created a great game "hug a mohawk" with a double risk
bring it on
I'd encourage everyone to play
I'm here
whilst not a 100% accurate list of my musical preferences, it is more accurate since I started scrobbling automatically over wifi from my iPod Touch.
have joined the group and added a few people as friends
What a cracking idea. Have joined the SGR gang. Do come say hi (or turf me out). Though having just looked at my recently played, I don't remember Rolf Harris being in there. Just goes to show.
There's no hiding with last.fm. You can pretend to be into good music, but it quickly becomes apparent you've been playing Fall Out Boy on a near-constant loop.
I have to say, it was a bit better when we had five members, because those five people seemed to have different tastes, but only by a bit - they were more similar than different.
Now it's gone random. I still persist with it though.
Agree on the "diverse" call. Haven't heard anything I really like for at least two hours!
