Shameless plug for the Wray Crescent Summer Festival on Saturday from 2-5pm

    There will be:

Live Music; A Bouncy Castle; Stalls selling cakes and things - we know you all love cake; A Real Fire Engine; Face Painting; Animals from the City Farm; Bike maintenance - another crowd pleaser; A picnic; and A Five a Side football competition if you are under 12.

It is in the cricket ground bit of Wray and is organised by the Friends of Wray Crescent and any funds raised will be put towards improving Wray.

By the way, the FoWC are not to be confused with the Vegan Friends of Wray Crescent - a group set up in the 70s for vegans in N4 - though of course they are more than welcome to attend.

Can adults go on the bouncy castle or is it kids only?

I honestly don't know. I suppose the only way is to go and find out!

We will be there. We've never been to Wray Crescent Park before - we tried once but got scared by a dog. Will there be dogs on Saturday?

Wray Crescent is excellent. I go to the playground there all the time with my son.

By night, I go and exercise my rottweiler, wear a hoody and deal drugs.

    So, multipurpose really.

Sorry Geoff - no can do. We're off to the Where's Wally 21st birthday event at Waterstones in Piccadilly that day. Yes, really.

    Have fun!

BTW - I'm inspired by Vegan Friends of Wray Crescent. Pescatarian Friends of Stroud Green Estate anyone?

i'm inspired by the real fire engine. but the fact that they feel the need to insist on its realness makes me wonder. is it all just a big scam?

Will the fire engine have real firemen???

I will be there with some local friends and our babies in tow.

Im also longing to go on a bouncy castle as a adult - Im so pleased I have a baby now as that is my ticket onto it. I was thinking of how exhausting it must be to go on as an adult now - probably be depressing and will just lie there.

It will be great to be near my neighbours who I wont recognise!

I would imagine that adults will be banned from the bouncy castle for insurance purposes.

"It is in the cricket ground bit of Wray".

There's a cricket ground there? a proper one?

Having lived in a flat that backed on to the cricket ground until last Sept, I can confirm that there is a relatively proper wicket (at least when the astroturf hasn't been set on fire by the local yoof). I could hear them playing whilst in my back garden - ah, the quintessentially English sound of leather on willow (??), followed by large amounts of loud swearing...

Well, that was the most amazing Wray Crescent festival I have ever been to.

    And it didn't rain.

    And the cakes were great!

Didn't get to the cakes but had a great time. Lovely atmosphere, toddler son went in the (real) fire engine, stroked the police horses and danced to the steel band.

Thanks Geoff and all that organised it.

Top Festival. Thanks all. Have signed up to be a FWOSG or something. Looking forward to getting stuck into more community type stuff. Really nice to see so many people there - many of whom I now appear to be on nodding terms with. And maybe one or two I'll pluck up the guts to actually say hello to before next year's.

I took some pictures of the fun and frolics and put them on flickr here
