But at least we won't have car horns all night.

    What a brilliant tournament.

That's mental. Great finish. I like both the Turkish and Croatian teams. Ambivalent. A shame one has to lose.

Three missed. Mental. I'm sad for Croatia because I really liked the team but hey, I'm also loving the crazy Turkish journey so all power to them. They just quoted a stat that Turkey have only been ahead for 2 minutes in playing time the whole tournament and they're in the semi's.

    All good stuff.

How on earth can they carry on scoring those last minute goals? Long may it last.

Holland vs Russia and Spain vs Italy to come. My favourite tournament since Italia 90.

My live penalties commentary happened to coincide with Swindon becoming one of the very few teams ever to miss five out of five penalties.

    I want a Holland-Spain final - is that possible?

Afraid not. Holland and Spain are in the other half of the draw. Germany vs Turkey is one semi.

Being obtuse Swindon reminds me of the magic roundabout ! the guy who invented them was in the obituaries Guardian today. I can also remember my first business trip there in 1982 I walked past the Garrard factory, anyone who knows about record deck or is old will know what I am talking about. ( Although Panasonic killed them off)

I think with Russia and Turkey in the semi-finals, we have to support any team with functioning democratic institutions.

This time it really was rather cruel on the Turks. Yet another German appearance in a major final without ever really looking like one of the better teams.

I'm really proud of my boys though, they did really really well - it could easily have been a complete walkover and they've proved they totally deserved to get as far as they did. Roll on the World Cup!
