The one in Mount Pleasant Crescent is a belter. I've seen people stop and take pics.

  1.
I have met the man who owns this elephant.....the howdah I suppose. He has been spotted now and again in the Larrik. The finest minds go there.

Apparently, now and again the council come round and measure the overhang on to the pavement, and tell him to cut it down. But he never has to because there are too many people who would rush to the barricades. So there it stays.

i think it's great. Very SG.

This might be on the Crescent, in which case, it can't be that much better.

There is one possibly two being “developed” in Victoria Road, just towards Albert Rd on the Florence Rd side of the street.

    We should have more !

Maybe we commission a guerilla gardener to fashion something from the hedge oustide Wall Court. Maybe a procession of baby elephants? How cool would that be?

The Planters at the SGR end of Lorne Road have had a Guerilla Gardener visit today as the council ignore them

There is definitely one on Victoria - and I have seen another, but can't remember where it is. This is going to annoy me until I remember.

I'd have a go myself, but I made such a mess of my son's fringe earlier in the week.

This is definitely on the Crescent, you can tell by the crescent shaped road

  2.
Perhaps the people who claim to have sighted an elephant on Victoria Road might post a picture of that too?

Last time I saw the one in Victoria Road it had "grown out" a bit - so just looked like a funny shaped hedge. It was definitely an attempt at an elephant at one stage though.

Definitely on the crescent as I walk past it with the dog every day. Took photos ages ago (and was spotted and smiled at by owner!) and meant to post them on here. There is also some kind of snake/rat-like thing on Evershot Road. Will procure photo!

Any design suggestions for the rectangular hedge in my front garden? - not big enough for elephant, sadly.

(will need downstair's flat and, possibly, Andy's approval though)

You should recreate Plum the dog.
  3.
How about a snail. Wearing a hat?

There are plenty of life models round here.

can't believe I didn't think of Plum! Snail's good too. The problem is, if you cock it up... End up with a rather small hedge.

There was a story about a guy who clipped his privet into the shape of an enormous native American paddling a canoe and then showed some video or a picture of the SG elephant as another example of clever topiary

I notice that the Victoria Road Elephants edge has had cut and is looking a bit more like one.

Also a lot of the hedges in Florence are looking very well cut and neat and tidy – Maybe Times Magazine man lives there
