carol86 - it beggars belief that you spend much time in Kensington, never mind most of your time. top tip... take both a flask of sugary tea and a packet of jammy dodgers with you everytime you leave your house thus saving both time and money with 2 shops empty in tollington park,the internet cafe and "heads up barbers" it is good to see a cafe such as bbm giving people a job... bbm looks good as you walk past and brightens up tollington park,just a shame they dont sell pork pies...

last week my beloved vauxhall astra,1.3 litre,broke down,so i was late for work,and got sacked from my job at kentucky fried chicken,crouch end branch.so i made my way,cv in hand, to chicken cottage in kings cross to apply for a new job.feeling confident due to my extensive experience,behind the counter,at the many fried chicken fast food empoirums in the sprawling metropoliss...arriving back in sg rd i cursed my luck as i realised that i had forgotten my flask of tea,that i carrry with me at all times,but not this time...feeling both hungry and thirsty i decided to try bbm.remembering that this was the new german cafe in sg that i had heard so much about."gutten tag" i said to the bbm sales assistant behind the counter ,i continued "je voudrais un pork pie mit (with) branston pickle danke very much merci". the lady behind the counter said " i am afraid we dont sell pork pies with branston pickle but i could offer you tea and cake." "danke very much" i repeated as i tried to be polite by speaking their language.after eating the cake and drinking the tea and after feeling refreshed and confident that i would soon be back behind the counter of a chicken cottage or the like soon i left bbm.one mistake i did make was that the whole time i was in bbm i was wearing my flat cap,i forgot to take off my hat indoors,what a faux pas,that means what a mistake in german.people shouldnt wear hats indoors especially not in bbm...

Kreukaz I feel a lot of people gang up on you on this site just to be part of something or the have had a bad day + need to put someone down to make em feel better. Nevertheless why do you rave on all the time across various discussions that SG is changing?Areas of London are constantly changing for the better or worse. Its much better to live in an improving area than an area in a downward spiral. I spent my childhood in N5 and Angel but when I got my 1st flat it wasnt there as I could not afford it then and that was approx 18yrs ago now the Angel is off the richter - full of solicitors that work for the top law firms, big bankers and the elite of the labour party (power to the socialists!). It meant I could not live close to my family and friends but I got to live in N4 and over the years have enjoyed the shops and restuarants that popped up along the way. As for Seasons good luck to them it may be expensive compared to Mezbaan but I am sure the owners are not living large in the S of France, the prices of produce/fresh food these days, even in Morrisons are eyewatering!As for BBM its a fine looking shop. The staff are always friendly but the coffee is dire and the cakes always look better than they taste but hey Mrs B loves it and is always there a couple of times a week.

if like me you make yourself a flask of tea,of a weekend,before exploring london on foot,then when feeling tired after a long walk you stop and sit down on a park bench,pouring yourself a cup of tea from your flask, while munching on a ginger nut,NEI, (no euphemism intended).then i think you will find bbm to be a nice an warm cafe to enjoy a cuppa n a slice of cake while sheltering from the chilly winter air,better than a cold park bench.... a good walk to do is go down sg rd into blackstock rd,down upper st all the way to the thames,through the city and cross the wobbly bridge to tate modern,go up the top of the art gallery to the cafe,not bothering to look at any of the modern art,to the cafe at the top which looks over to st pauls cathederal...this walk is a good one starting from stroud green rd....locals should be getting behind bbm its so much better than some shops that could be there..just look at some of the cafes in blackstock rd that got busted by the police for criminal activity

ive had enough of people criticising local n4 tollington park business bbm bbm are a local business;and they need to make money they employ local people and contribute to the economy at a difficult time for the british economy plenty of people like eating and drinking at bbm and are happy to spend money there and leave a tip bbm have loads of customers in the cafe , so they must be doing something right loads of people like bbm just have a look at cafes in blackstock rd,we dont need the criminal element in n4 .... bbm are a quality addition to tollington park,many locals can afford to eat and drink at bbm so good luck to them no doubt clever people will make comments,but at the end of the day bbm are a positive business in tollington park n4,so.... ...whatever... so i wish luck to bbm give local businesses a chance to be successfull before being too critical...

Well said Chris - think BBM is a much needed addition to the area, nothing is 100% perfect - they are trying and it's very difficult at the moment.

Thanks BJ... I went to the newsagents yesterday and bought myself a copy of "The Guardian" newspaper,I was too embarassed to be seen walking down the street with this left wing paper tucked under my arm so I reached up to the top shelf and bought a Razzle magazine to hold over the guardian so noone could see that i had bought this left wing rag. When I got home I flicked through The Guardian.They were going on about the usual things. how they are so tolerant etc Then I thought "I wonder how many people who are criticising bbm on the bbm thread are guardian readers? As bbm are a local business run by local people not a big chain of shops - surely just the sort of thing that guardian readers should be supporting? yet many of the guardian readers seem to be going out of their way to be critical of bbm seems intolerant but then how many people have actually run their own businesses and employed people,easier to criticise than run a business and contribute to the british economy...than actually do something positive... carry on

ive just had a read back over this thread... flippin eck Gordon Bennett what a bunch of "half baked",npi (no pun intended) whinging moaners... its no wonder australians call us english, a bunch of whinging poms,as much as it hurts me to agree with the convicts returning to the scene of the crime...they are right in the case of this bbm thread...no offense to aussies... even people who i enjoy reading on this forum on other threads are complaining n whinging far too much... punters probably preferred it wen sg.org was on dog muck and cpz watch...and who can blame them... after reading some more of the regular sg.org punters comments on this thread... metaphorically speaking...this bbm thread is like, "someone getting a kick in during a beating" guardian readers hiding behind their newspapers; and metaphorically sticking the boot in, like skin heads did in the late 1970's on finsbury park council estates, before cctv was put in,in finsbury park... what a disgrace shame on you sg.org you should be ashamed of yourselves...

m says "why should we support it when its not very good" m - that is your individual and subjective opinion i am interested in the facts not just one persons opinion the facts are that the bbm cafe is popular with locals,you only have to walk past bbm regularly to see how many people are in the cafe m - u might care about baking etc. Locals arent bothered,they are there using this local cafe regularly cafes need to market themselves2 make money - and as far as i am concerned they have done nothing wrong m - its you and not others who are going on and on about this baking issue,most people arent bothered just saying

I'm with Misscara on this. I'm happy to support local businesses that deliver. We regularly eat at local restaurants and drink in local pubs. When our veggies run out, I'm going to head down to the new greengrocers on SGR. But I'm not going to support the local dry cleaner that ruined my cardigan and tried to overcharge me for an extra garment. Nor am i going to support a cafe that serves undrinkable coffee and uses shill accounts to attack its critics on the local message board.

I'm with Misscara too. Instead of getting lots of their friends to post incoherent praise on here, why don't BBM take some of our comments on board and use the feedback in a positive way (as other local business such as Season's do). It wouldn't take much to improve the dreadful coffee would it? Then they'd probably be even busier. Everyone agrees it's a lovely looking shop and a welcome addition to the area, but I for one won't be going there for my weekend breakfast until they serve a decent coffee. And I don't read the Guardian......

i popped in for breakfast this morning and the food was really fresh and good, even treated myself with brownie on the top which was absolutely beautiful plus nice atmosphere and friendly stuff. definitely come back soon!!!

indeed. and no doubt you commented on many threads on many different topics over a long amount of time. carol86 commented 5 times on 1 thread immediately after joining, with a very strong agenda on that single topic, and hasn't said a word since. as i say, it's hardly conclusive, but you can see why people may leap to a conclusion.

I m afraid im up to have disscusion just with Kreuzkav,people come on !!! get a life,get some work to do,cant spend my entire time just on comments ...i dont like constantly keep repeating same things, and when i m just expressing my own opinion people find it rude, so cant be bothered!! All I can say that nobody could stop me from buying BBM stuff and etc cos they are gud, delicious and I personally love it.
