I know there are other Virgin threads but thought I'd start this new one, as this is a specific question.

Since moving home in summer and having a new Virgin account set up, we get random outages every so often.

What happens is quite specific. Internet suddenly loses connection - occasionally notice tv picture goes dodgy at the same time if it's on.

The wireless network shows up in the bottom right corner of the PC as full strength and connected.

Trying to connect by iphone, it also says it is connected

But both the PC and the iphone are not actually connected and you can't use the internet.

So it is definitely the network not the computer (my internet radio also can't connect, so I've got three devices all proving this)

Sometimes I can cure this, by turning off the wireless router at the plug and the back of the box, sometimes - like last night and this morning - that doesn't work.

Two questions (Virgin are not much help)

1) is this same problem happening to anyone else round here?
2) for those more technical than myself - any thoughts on what causes this and how to sort this?

You were about 18, tears and snot are not a good look.

You sound like you come from London, so why support Man U?

And this is most important.

YOU FUCKING LOST lol I have not laughed as much in years, and seeing your tear stained snotty face put a bigger smile on my face than I thought it was possible to have. So thanks for making my day even better.

We had great pizza and the staff were so friendly. Another thing was it was a good place to remember to take the kids: food is the kind they would like too and the place feels welcoming to families which I can't say about everywhere!

As a newbie - I wonder if anyone can tell me the good points and the things to watch out for at this school. My son and I went round the school this year and it looked like a fun place to be and the head was very honest which I appreciated. I really like the ability for the reception class to be able to run outside freely - freeflow I think it's called which is essential for a son who cannot sit still. Anyway what are your experiences of the school?

I am curious as to the Stroud Green earworms. 6 music are asking for your earworm

The term earworm originally comes from a translation of the German word
'Ohrwurm'. It refers to the experience of having a tune or a part of a tune
stuck in your head. Often a person experiencing an earworm has no idea why a
tune has popped into their head and has little control over how long it
continues.

I just received this notice, below, from the local LibDems ... it might be of interedt to most here?

"Haringey Council plans to change the way our rubbish is collected. The council want to only collect non-recyclable rubbish once a fortnight. They plan to start doing this in Muswell Hill ward next year.

The good part is that recyclable rubbish will still be collected weekly. And if you happen to live in a block of flats or above a shop non-recyclables will still be collected weekly. All other residents will have to make do with fortnightly collection. Some smelly items like bones, nappies and pet litter can’t be recycled – so will only be collected every other week with the rest of the ‘black bag’ waste.

The Labour Council hasn’t consulted residents about this plan – so the Lib Dems are. We’ve already had over 600 responses to our survey. But we want more people to have their say – so we are now launching an online version of the survey.

Haringey Liberal Democrats have always been at the forefront of the fight to improve recycling facilities in the borough. But we don’t think cutting back on non-recycled waste collection will work in an area like Haringey.

To take part in the survey, please visit our website

http://haringeylibdems.mycouncillor.org.uk/survey/

and follow the simple on-screen instructions. Please make sure you have your say about this important issue.

With best wishes,

Lynne Featherstone MP
Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey & Wood Green"

I was particularly struck by the care they took over the drainage of the patio which was technically tricky to get right without compromising the appearance (it was on a slope and I wanted it flatter) and the pride they took in the job overall. For example, in the weeks following they've dropped round several times to check how the lawn is doing and offer advice on planting etc. Don't think many other gardeners would have done that - real professionals. I'm dead chuffed!

Hi, all

I know it's a bit of a weird request. I have a friend coming to visit me next weekend and we intent to cycle everywhere if possible. I do have a bike, but I can hardly put her on the handlebar/shoulders.

Has someone a spare bike we could use? Doesn't have to be beautiful, only street-save (brakes, lights). It'll sleep in the locked shed and will be treated with respect. Would need it from Sunday to Wednesday.

Cheers,

Stella
