  • It wasn't me. I took lessons for 1.5 years (mezzo-soprano), but haven't practiced in a decade. And developing Asthma wasn't helping either. Every now and again, I hear someone singing opera outside, just briefly. Beautiful.

  • I've only been on the site for 2.5 years, but I'd like to thank Andy and David (have I ever 'met' him?). I think it's a wonderful forum for all things local and I've met some wonderful people.  Ben: Congratulations on your new role, may the suggeste…

  • You can, but it's just not really as representative. My previous GP had quite a low rating; I always felt in very good hands with them. Apart from the odd nurse/doctor who seemed to have a bad day, that is.
  • Fine by me.

  • This is so sad. There's a bunch of people who just want to enjoy a lovely BBQ and, by doing that, keep alive the community spirit and there's always one motherfucker who gets off by anonymously slagging off people. If you don't want to part of it, j…

  • The only things I criticise is that you can't choose your GP. I'd happily stayed with the one in Stokey and was dead upset that I couldn't and that it takes ages to get a physio therapist, and that Chiropractic is private. Other than that I think th…
  • I'm with Andover, too. When I was new to them I was rather upset as they were so different to the surgery I had in Stokey (best doctor I've had in my life!) and wanted to change, but somehow didn't go through with it. Now I'm quite happy with them. …
  • I can never refuse a BBQ!

  • And the offer's gone, but if you're looking for a second hand bike, here is a small selection: https://www.facebook.com/BikeBoxLondon All bikes have been serviced, of course.
  • Damn it! Missed it again. :-( The rose garden is pretty great, too. I stuck my nose in every bush last time I was there. Oh and the guy in the cafe asked me if I'm a teacher. hahaha.
  • Stop moaning! I loved hearing it from home, if only just a tiny bit. Would have loved to hear more. Grrrrr.
  • Oxford gate was closed last year. Upper Tollington/Endymion Rd. was open. I'd like to go, too.
  • Anyone going to listen to them outside? From last year's experience I know it can be quite a nice sound. Although I suppose it's a bit tedious getting into the park.
  • In fact they're back and I got a packet. Wednesday pancakes are herewith safe. Bread to be bought on Wednesday.
  • Which should be zero now. lol
  • Okay, thank you. I'll pay Dunn's a visit on Tuesday.
  • Not so much of use for me, I'm afraid. The reason I asked is that my friend is coming over on Wednesday and she's on a special diet for the time being. It's not that she's absolutely religious about that, but I thought it would be nice to have spelt…
  • I know. :-(
  • Thank you, guys, will check them out. I also heard that Wholefood in Church St. sells spelt bread.
  • Yes, we arranged for tomorrow. Not a moment too soon as I've got a customer who urgently needs a set of wheels. So I'll be building them on Thursday.
  • Don't be so bloody scientific, man! Idoru: I always enjoyed cycling, and I missed it a lot when not cycling for a while, but since I've switched to Viscounts (road bikes), I'm enjoying it even more. A bit can make the difference. Riding around on a …
  • No, you can leave it with me and he'll pick it up. :-) Give him a call and see what you can work out.
  • I missed it again. Went to pick up a bench grinder from near St. Albans. Happy girl, though.
  • Really glad you're enjoying your bike, Idoru. I don't know if you feel the same, but as soon as I get on my bike and start pedalling, I feel some kind of a rush and it makes me smile--often as if euphoria is spreading through my veins. It's hard to …
  • Too late. Went to Stokey and they're going to do it for a tenner. Can pick it up on Tuesday. Happy bunny, me.
  • Told you it's the aliens who put us here to study us, or maybe just for the sheer fun of it, as we humans are just a tad hideous.
  • Ah, just found another thread about this. Seems only Muswell Hill. Might as well go back to that place in Stokey.
  • Gosh, I miss my garden. :-(  Agree on the home grown stuff: the tomatoes taste wonderful. Fond memories of Gardener's delight cherry tomatoes. And lots of mustard and red frill, rocket, bean, peas, lettuce, etc. Nothing gives you more pleasure than …
  • That's a splendid idea!
