Crafty Pint workshops

edited May 2011 in Local discussion
Beth at the Stapleton Tavern is kindly letting me loose in the bar with lots of pairs of scissors this Saturday. We've got a fabric brooch making workshop lined up in the first of a series of activities there for 'Crafty Pint'.

I'll paste the publicity blurb below, but it would be great if some of you could make it. We want to build this into a useful community event where local people and designer-makers meet up.

Please let me know if there are local artists who you think could run a great workshop in the future. Crafty Pint is a collective, and the more people who can get involved and help, the easier it will be to run. The South London branch has been really popular and I hope we can get a similar success building in our neck of the woods.

Any suggestions of places with decent notice boards or family groups etc. to approach also gratefully received.

Even if you don't want to take the workshop, please pop in and say hi if you're interested. There will be teaching but it'll be a very informal class, and three of us are running it.

Cheers
Xtina

Crafty Pint is hosting two exciting workshops at a North London venue - The Stapleton Tavern in Stroud Green, N4. On Saturday 14th May there's a textile brooch making workshop, and on Saturday 16th July a fabric printing workshop.

<a href="http://www.craftypint.co.uk" target="_blank">Crafty Pint</a> is a collective of local designer makers, encouraging people to shop local and teaching new craft skills in affordable workshops.

In May's workshop you can make several pretty styles of <strong>textile brooch</strong> over three hours. All the designs are deceptively simple to sew, and you can choose whatever you like from our stash of vintage, upcycled and contemporary fabrics and trimmings. Use them to brighten clothes or bags, wear as a hair accessory or corsage, or make them as gifts for lucky friends or family.

In July's <strong>fabric printing workshop</strong> you can design your own lino cut pattern and print it onto fabric, build up patterns with our 50s & 60s inspired designs, and screen print motifs onto a tote bag.

As the Crafty Pint venues are pubs you can sip drinks from the bar, have a chat and relax while making lovely things. Suitable for all levels, whether you’re a crafting pro or have never sewn or printed before. Children age 10 and over welcome with an adult.

All tools and materials are provided, homemade cakes are included in the price and drinks are available from the bar.

A place on these three hour workshops is a bargain £15. You can turn up on the day, but pre-booked places will receive a free needle book.
