Cinema Club: Finsbury Park PictureHouse; THE FALL GUY Tues 7 May; 2:40pm

Cinema Club for the over 60s

The next offering is the film THE FALL GUY at the Finsbury Park PictureHouse at 2:40pm on Tuesday 7 May. The cost is £7.60. If you’re coming for the first time, you’ll have to join the PictureHouse’s Silver Screen programme but it’s free and painless to sign up. This film is just over 2 hours so it should finish by 5:00pm. There are a lot of trailers.

Here is the synopsis for the film with a star-studded cast.

Colt Seavers (Oscar® nominee Ryan Gosling – Barbie, Drive) is a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt, Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place)—goes missing.

While the film’s ruthless producer (Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham; Ted Lasso), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Bullet Train) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

  • I saw an insta post where the 'guy' of the title on the side of an IMax cinema was obscured by a bus and the poster was speculating on how Ryan Gosling was going to portray Mark E Smith and Emily Blunt Brix Smith, but unfortunately it is a far less intriguing scenario.
