Stroud Green homeless

edited March 2010 in Local discussion
Curious about the 2 long term homeless people who have been on SGR for years. The very thin young lady who sits outside Tesco. And the older black gentleman who sits at the the top of SGR, often outside of Woody's. Any info on them?

Someone said on another thread a wee while ago that the woman outside Tesco is grateful when shoppers come out of Tesco with something for her to eat, but it's often stodgy treats (doughnuts, biscuits etc.). She'd rather somthing healthier.

She said she prefers fruit and vegetables, juice and water I think.

Last time I spoke to her she was very excited because she was going to meet her son, who she hadn't seen since he was a baby. He'd found her trawling through social network sites and someone had eventually passed on his telephone number to her.

She's come down from Scotland, and I think has a bit of a love/hate relationship with Stroud Green. You're right it's years that she been there now, maybe 7? More? I like her, she's pretty chatty and dry. She's always telling me she's really getting herself together, but it doesn't seem to happen. I'm not sure if she is still homeless, I think she's been offered accomodation a few times, but it hasn't worked out. She doesn't seem to have as much stuff with her as she used to so maybe it has now. Hope so.

I have seen her buying something from very doggy looking blokes on the Estate opposite WLM which I can only assume are drugs of some sort

Tescos lady is a heroine addict I've heard and she floats around between friends/hostels and she was in Holloway last year for a stretch too.

Do heroine addicts read Catherine Cookson?

And do heroin addicts read Poppy Brite?

I miss when Poppy Brite used to do junkie vampires and supernatural malfeasance, her recent books about amiable chefs really don't appeal to me.
