does anyone know of kittens in need of a home?

After some time dithering, I've decided to bite the bullet and get a cat or cats. My children would prefer kittens and I wondered where i could go to get them. I don't want to provide a market for some unscrupulous and possibly cruel commercial breeder, especially when everyone claims that London is full of cats and kittens in need of homes. I'm sure this is true, but in typical fashion they've all run away when I want them. All ideas very gratefully received.

Alternatively, Mayhew charges £75, Battersea cats home charge £60, and I believe that the RSPCA also charges £60 for adopting an animal. It is worth noting that the £60 charge at Battersea cats home includes he cost includes microchipping, vaccinations, pet insurance, three months veterinary care, a starter pack of food, an ID tag, and access to a Behaviour Advice Line, so that isn't a bad deal IMHO.
