Does anyone fancy a regular Sunday evening game of Mah-Jong in the Noble?
I have the kit, but rarely used. Not hard to learn, suitably eccentric for SG possibly.
How long would it take to learn? The only person I knew who played once hand-carved a Maj-Johng set as a present for her then boyfriend. He left her the same day, and that was that.
@Mirandola - it can have that effect.
In Hong Kong Mah-Johng is not at all gentrified. It's nasty, brutish and short, very loud, very aggressive and played by everyone. Have seen it. That's what I had in mind.
@andy I think you may be thinking of American Mah-Jongh clubs of the 1950s, very Mad Men style.

My mom used to play (in America in the 50's and 60's). As I recall the women were mostly short, very loud and a bit aggressive.
I was once in a band called Leviathan, Our music was, similarly, nasty, brutush and short.
