I happened to be browsing a copy of Shortlist today (it's all they ever have to read at my gym, no Vogue or Grazia or anything!) and there was a small, favourable review and very nice photo of the Old Dairy in the pubs of the week section. Followed on the very next page by a big ad for Burke & Hare starring two of our most oft spotted SG'ers. Made me quite proud to live in SG it did.

Ah yes, I meant to say, The Stapleton now seems to carry orange slices for the Blue Moon as a matter of course (rather than running out three days in a row). Hurrah.

Whats more, one of the other pubs featured in that piece - The Green in Clerkenwell, is just a few doors away from my office. I felt very special.

Yes, another excellent pub. They do a great scotch egg made from black pudding. Good ales too. And you just can't argue with a pub that has a Rhino's head on the wall.

I was in the Jerusalem Tavern in Farringdon last night. I love that place. Perhaps we should have a thread dedicated to recommended establishments outside of Stroud Green.

@ arky, I know you were, it popped up on foursquare! The BP egg is called a [Manchester egg](http://manchesteregg.com/) and should be made with a pickled egg and panko (although the original inspiration was crisps). Personally I haven't tried one, and I probably won't. I once ate a pickled egg by accident and it will not be happening again.

That's it, I'm definitely not signing up to foursquare, I like to preserve a bit of mystery about what I'm up to. Black pudding eggs are lovely, in fact black pudding improves many foods. It's especially good with pork or bunny and Spanish black pudding is amazing.

Oh, that used to be a lovely pub but it had one of the all time worst gastro makeovers, and now is at once horribly overpriced, and incredibly tacky. Like a Harvester with delusions of grandeur.

I just don't get foursquare. It doesn't check you are really where you are so you can a) pretend to be somewhere else or b) hide and not announce where you are. Upshot being the true Mayor of somewhere probably goes unrewarded while someone who has GPS Tourettes and a smart phone gets the free bun and a rather pointless virtual badge. The worst of the web trends in my book.

I didn't realise that they don't check. So you could say you were on top of the Empire State Building or something when you are really eating toast in your pyjamas and no one could check? That's good. I won't join until they send out real badges though - what use is a virtual badge?
