  • The idea that sg steve is the arbiter of what is 'polite' on this forum is frankly terrifying. Worst thread ever.
  • Scoffed a delicious jam filled brioche on the way to the station this morning. Lucky it is not actually on my route to work or I'd be in trouble. Great addition to the area.
  • Today, twice, in a meeting, 'language' as a verb. As in, 'we'd just need to language that to make it clearer/more interesting/etc'.

  • @ AGDS I loved Rialto and still listen to them sometimes. They have stood the test of time better than Menswear, although I did love them deeply and totally unironically when they were releasing stuff - saw them twice on the same tour, if memory ser…
  • Andy Serkis getting off the Victoria line at FP last night.
  • I don't think it's the first time the Gazette has turned threads from this forum into 'news' (and possibly the Hornsey Journal too - Andy might be able to confirm/deny). Really spectacularly lazy.

  • @ Misscara - I live quite near there so it could have been mine on an outing now that I have ousted it from my kitchen. I am pretty sure they are in my cellar and come up to the kitchen where the pipes run to the boiler, which is behind a cupboard s…

  • Just resurrecting this thread as I found a rat in my house yesterday and definitely need to do something about it. Any other recommendations about companies to get in to help with this? I'm far too squeamish about dead things to attempt to deal with…

  • I just love the idea that he nodded off...on his surfboard.
  • Much rather live there than where he lives now, just off the bottom of Edgware Road.

  • Blah Blah Blah also has the advantage of being BYO, though the disadvantage of being in West London. Used to go there quite a lot before I saw the light and moved north...
  • Vanilla Black is great - good recommendation. There's also Manna in Primrose Hill for somewhere nice but less pricey than Morgan M.
  • If you're looking for somewhere really special, try Morgan M on Liverpool Road. They do a fantastic five course tasting menu with both veggie and meat options (most unusual for upmarket French restaurants) and will let you swap fish options into the…
  • I don't get cupcakes either. And I'm not a man.

  • You can definitely get waxed discs from Lakeland, as well as new lids for your recycled jars, if you need them.
  • There's definitely a band that is based or practices in Ossian Mews. Not sure how you'd find out though - maybe ask in Londis as I think they have the same landlords?
  • That really is sad - she's a nice lady and he was a sweet dog.
  • Not Trullo, but I stumbled across a lovely place, Food Lab, on Essex Road last weekend - highly recommended and great eggs florentine (muffins toasted, spinach cooked!).
  • @ Ian - Neal's Yard Dairy sells those oatcakes (about a pound for a pack of 6, I think, so not too extortionate). Delicious.

  • Have been a bit over-optimistic on the work front and won't be able to make it...very sorry. I've read the books and everything!
  • Should be OK - work permitting. I have read both, and very interested to discuss them.
  • Image, the place near londis, does threading and is very reasonable - £6.50 for eye brows, I think.
  • I rang my electricity company but wasn't in the best of states this morning so my recollections are a bit hazy. Something about a network problem and re-routing round the bit that had gone wrong to get the power back on.

  • Yes, I was very grateful to have a gas hob this morning, and no pressing need to leave the house. Your morning sounds less than joyful.

  • I walk to and from the station through the park - this sounds sad, but it's one of the best bits of my day. I love the fact that it's so well used in the evening - oddly uplifting to see people playing tennis, skating and just hanging about outside.
  • I'm in Scarborough Road - it's back on now. Having to boil water in a saucepan for tea with a massive hangover is just not on.

  • Looks like overall gains for Labour in Harringey Council though, although one ward still being recounted.
  • The other problem with 'anyone but the Tories' is that the nationalists would presumably press for full devolution, which Labour wouldn't have because of their electoral strength in Wales and Scotland (Tories would have a massive majority in an Engl…
  • Now the BBC appear to be paying for a HELICOPTER to film the top of David Cameron's car driving from his house to get the results. Good God.
  • Joan Collins appears to be at the BBC election boat party. What???
